Google Releases Motion Assist Accessibility Feature

Abner Li reports for 9to5 Google this week Google has released its new Motion Assist accessibility feature to Pixel and Samsung phones. The feature, which requires Android 17, is Google’s analogue to the similarly-scoped Vehicle Motion Cues on iOS, whereby a series of dots move about the screen in an effort to combat motion sickness while in a vehicle.

“The aim [of Motion Assist] is to reduce motion sickness when you’re in a car, bus, or other moving vehicle with an onscreen bubbles overlay that adjusts to the device’s motion,” Li wrote on Monday.

Motion Assist can be customized, including its color, size, and opacity. It can also be added to Quick Settings.

As Li notes, Google announced Motion Assist as part of its September 2026 Android Drop. The functionality shipped alongside Find Hub Remembered and Gemini Live Guided Vision.
